Crazy Cat Ladies Unite!

I just wanted to show off my recent "Crazy Cat Lady" sculpture done in a modern take on the Day of the Dead aka Dia de los Muertos.  She's sitting on the sofa journaling surrounded by her many cats!

Manifestation Report #3

The other day, I was thrifting for stuff (thrift store shopping that is) and I randomly decided to research Blenko glass on my phone in the store.  My mom has a pitcher made by Blenko and I starting thinking I should get familiar with their pieces in case I happen to find some on my shopping trips.  I did find a rare Italian Bitossi box recently without even knowing what it was so it's nice to study up!  As I was standing there in the kitchenware aisle at Goodwill staring at the stream of images from the Google search "Blenko glass flower plate", I looked over and saw a clear organically shaped glass plate with gold border on the shelf right next to me and it was the same plate at the image!  At first I had seen this plate and thought it was just some mid century look alike probably made by Target, etc.  But no, it must have been made in the same mold as the plate in the search image!  It wasn't Blenko glass, but somehow searching for Blenko led me to that beautiful plate.  I didn't realize its beauty until I picked it up and examined it, noting the slight patina of age to the hand painted gold border and the heft and quality of the glass which was too fine for the likes of Target.  It turns out it was made by IVV Italy in the 1950's.  The gold border is actually 10K gold!  So cool!  I consider finding a manifestation because I followed inspiration and even though, it didn't lead to Blenko glass (yet), I found something equally cool and learned more about mid century antiques along the way!  Which was my intended goal anyway!
